About Me

My name is Vanessa Pike-Russell. I live in Lake Illawarra, south of Wollongong - the city of innovation.

I specialise in Information Technology for Education and have a Bachelor of Education (Primary) from the University of Wollongong (Australia). I have created websites since 1995 and enjoy creating sites for non-profit organisations, friends and family.

Photography
Ever since I can remember I have loved photography. My first camera was a kodak automatic that I inherited from my Mother. My Grandmother taught me how to use it and it was her passion for photography that seems to have rubbed off onto me. I am primarily a nature photographer but I hope to branch out in to portrats and macro photography. I have a stock photo account with fotolia and a prints account on deviantart.com. I take part in photographic challenges and competitions such as JPG Mag, Exploring Photography, Exploring Macro Photography and Vazaar. I have a photo blog and food blog which I update regularly. `
Cameras My cameras include: Asahi Pentax Spotmatic (SLR from early 1970's) Asahi Pentax KM (SLR from early 1970's) Pentax K10D (dslr purchased 2007) with interchangeable lenses Pentax istDL (DSLR purchased 2007) with interchangeable lenses Fujifilm Finepix s5600 (purchased 2006) Fujifilm Finepix s9600 (purchased 2007) Phoenix slr (purchased for $4 in 2007) Kodak CX7300 (traded to Robert Sloan for art)
Adobe Photoshop I have been using Adobe Photoshop since the mid 90's and I have developed some tutorials, actions (automated steps to create effects) and have created sets on Flickr devoted to Photoshop effects and screen captures.
Food I love dining out and often take photos of my food. I am currently working on a cookbook filled with delicious photographs. I have created restaurant reviews and have a set of photos on flickr related to Food and Drink. ( Read more.. ).

Travel

I have travelled up and down the east coast of Australia including Queensland, North Queensland, New South Wales, A.C.T., Melbourne and Tasmania.
