This is seriously NOT COOL.

The Illawarra Mercury has run Fishstarr's image of Wollongong in their story (OK so far) but with absolutely no attribution..

No surprises where they got it from it was short listed in a competition run by the Herald..

Written by Vanessa Pike-Russell

There is are some amazing images in the Australian Portraits group on Redbubble.

Here are but twelve of my favourite images this week:

It is free to join redbubble and upload your fine art photography to sell or just share your work.

It has been a while since I have done a photographer spotlight so this week I decided to share some of the wonderful Australian Portrait photographers on Redbubble. Each week I feature twelve images which appear on the front page of the Australian Portrait group. Each one tells a story, draws the viewer in and features wonderful lighting and sets the scene with props and/or background which adds another element of the image. There are so many talented Australian portrait photographers and it is my pleasure to bring you twelve of the featured images of June week 1.

June Week 1 features

These images are available for sale through Redbubble as cards, prints and sometimes calendars with prices from $3 which makes it a very economical way to purchase some contemporary fine art Australian images which will bring interest to your loungroom or office building.

Each week I feature photos in three groups I manage on Redbubble.

Australian Portraits, Illawarra (Art, Photography and Writing) and New South Wales Photography

Never heard of Redbubble? Redbubble is an Australian-based website which allows you to upload your photography, t-shirt designs and add writing and Sell your artwork to a global audience. Think of it as a web-based exhibition of work from all over Australia and parts of the world. A community of artists and a gallery of work available for sale in the forms of cards, calendars, matted prints, framed prints, canvas prints, mounted prints and t-shirts.
New to RedBubble?  Take the tour

As a Redbubble group manager I spend time going through the art and photography submitted to the groups I manage and feature twelve images which best represent the group. Sometimes this can be a tough job as there are so many fantastic images it is hard to choose only a dozen in a week. The featured images selection is added to the Group News page for the respective group and members are encouraged to leave comments on their favourite works.

The show was officially opened by Dateline Presenter, George Negus who announced the three equal winners, Katerina Mantelos for her image ‘Athina, 98 years of life’, Vincent Long for his image ‘Generation Y’ and Janyon Boschoff for his image ‘Urban Camouflage’. The ‘Critic’s Choice’ went to Gary Heery for his image of Kate Blanchett. David Kelly received a Special Mention for his Image ‘Ursula’.

Photographic exhibition of Samantha Everton and her Vintage Dolls. Every image is a mixture of the fantasy and reality surrounding young girls as they are swathed in the culture and expectation of the world around them. The images could almost be mistaken for painting, the details are so precise and such brilliant lighting. The images in Samantha's gallery force me to look at my own photography and see how far I still have to go. Every image is a story waiting to be read, each detail adds more context and leaves me wanting to see more. Previous exhibition galleries are just as enthralling. Anyone can take a photo but few tell a story so beautifully.
