Digital Photography Workflow: Learn how to take your images from the camera, establish back-up of your raw images (.dng and jpg), add tags, metadata and develop your own workflow style and use your time effectively to process images in a non-destructive manner

  • The Lightroom Workspace: modules, panels, tools, view modes, etc.
  • Digital Image Capture: learn the basics of image format for your camera, the many benefits of shooting raw, how to understand histograms, exposure settings andmode settings.
  • Importing your photographs into Lightroom (or Picassa or Photoshop Bridge): using Photoshop Lightroom to import, catalog and define file systems, automation and batch processing and presets.
  • Organising your library of photos: so you've imported all  your images. Now we teach you how to organise and filter them. Next we work with metadata, keywording strategies, rating and collections to make things easier for later.
  • Developing in the digital darkroom. After organising, rating and choosing your colleciton of images to work on you will now learn the develop module and get the most out of yuor images. This means evaluating the photo, adjusting the  tone, contrast and colour; plus some tricks and tips to using adjustment brushes, graduated filters, retouching for red-eye, dust and other nifty tips.
  • Jump into Photoshop for panoramas, image merge and composites. Sometimes Lightroom just isn't enough and you need some extra help. With Photoshop CS you can merge images (great for when a family blinks!), merge photos into a panorama, add text and other effects.
  • Exporting Images from Lightroom:  Using the Export module to save for web, print or to pdf presentation document. Choosing file formats, post-processing actions, using customised export plug-ins and more.
  • Share your work: Using the in-built Slideshow, Print and Web modules to create a slideshow, print your photos (with or without watermarks) and create a web gallery of your images

Photographer and Web Designer located in Lake Illawarra, NSW Australia

I stumbled upon the website of an amazing horror photographer. Every piece has been made with as much care and crafting as the set of a horror movie.
Which makes sense, since Joshua is strongly influenced by Horror movie legends Mario Bava and Walt Disney.

“My images are not photoshop collages.I use photoshop to finesse details and to adjust color and contrast for printing.I use friends and family members as
actors and crew.Everyone works for free. We do it for fun.” says Joshua Hoffine whose eye catching artworks may remind us of our very own childhood fears!

They remind me of the Halloween song I used to sing

Night Noises

Night-time noises, shapes and shadows,
Creeping round my bed;
Dad says it's imagination,
all inside my head.

I hear something big and furry
Creeping round the house;
I'm so frightened, please what is it?
....Silly, it's a mouse.

Two green eyes are at the window
Staring at the mat;
I'm so frightened, please what is it?
...Silly, it's a cat.

I can see enormous fingers
Pointing right at me;
I'm so frightened, please what is it?
...Silly, it's a tree.

I can see a great white face that's
Looking in my room;
I'm so frightened, please what is it?
...Silly, it's the moon.

Night-time noises, shapes and shadows,
Couldn't hurt a flea;
They were just imagination,
All made up by me.

Education: B.Ed (Info. Tech. and Comm.)

When did the photography bug bite? Photography is an important part of my life. Ever since I can remember I have loved capturing precious moments. My earliest photographs were portraits of friends and family.

Why do you enjoy photography?
I enjoy freezing a moment in time, capturing images that are fun and full of expression. I also enjoy the challenge and believe, as Plutarch did that - "The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled."

Where can I buy your photos? I have a red bubble store, a stock photo account with fotolia and a profile on gekko images. I enjoy doing photography courses and photography challenges.   If you would like to purchase or rent an artwork for your business or organisation please contact me.

What services do you provide? I am available for a wide range of photography subjects including, but not limited to

* Advertisements
* Architecture
* Business events
* Commercial headshots
* Food photography
* Portraits (baby, engagement, family, Trash the Dress (post wedding portraits) etc
* Product Photography
* Website design
* Website developing (php, mysql database)

What education have you received in Photography and Design? I have a Bachelor of Education with a specialisation in Information Technology and Communication from the University of Wollongong. As part of my course I studied multimedia education, photography, website design. During this time I borrowed a digitial camera from the Curriculum Resources Center and used the photos taken in assignments and personal websites. Later I purchased my first digital camera and started selling photos to publications and stock photography agencies. I have upgraded cameras several times since then and although I love to shoot with film it is through digital photography that I was able to experiment and learn through trial and error.

What Workshops have you attended?

I have attended a number of workshops in Wollongong and Sydney as well as online workshops and taking part in the Adobe Roadshows over the past few years.

Some of the off-line workshops I have enjoyed include:

* WEA Digital Camera Workshop 1 with Alex Ball - introduction to digital camera technology, colour temperature, exposure, composition, lighting, weekly assignments and feedback
* WEA Digital Camera Workshop  2 with Alex Ball -digital asset management and workflow, the Digital Darkroom, weekly assignments,composition, light meters, metering mode, etc.
* People Photography workshop Sydney Photographic Workshop with Daniel Linnet
