I commissioned a composite art piece featuring three items – a portrait of myself, frangipani and a rainbow lorikeet. Robert Sloan would draw using Prismacolor pencils based on my photography and we made a trade -the drawing for some Prismacolor pencils sent to Robert Sloan’s location in the USA

Third of my trade art pieces for ~alilone, this was drawn from Frangipani Tree, Rainbow Lorikeet up close II and Portrait Reference, all by ~alilone and posted here on DeviantART. I am so proud of this set of coloured pencil realism pieces. Each one of them either came out exactly as I imagined it (Djinn did) or came out better and had unexpected serendipity.
The tree in Grandmama at Tathra came out more Asian in feeling once I simplified it and the ocean reminded me of paintings ~alilone photographed at the Thirroul Arts Festival. That happened again with this one. When I got down into the frangipani, memories of some murals ~alilone photographed and more of the Thirroul Arts Festival paintings kept coming to mind while I did the leaves and flowers. One of them was a big mural on a truck of lorikeets in a jungle, and the leaves reminded me of that.
The progress scans in my Scraps are grayer because my scanner has a lip around the bed and so laying larger art on a board onto it shadows it by about 1/8″ space. ~kitten42 made the scans, this one and a lower resolution one for posting at LiveJournal, and got the entire piece instead of losing half an inch off the top and one of the sides. The colour came out much clearer on her scan.
Here it is — third and final of my trade art series for ~alilone, and I’ll be matting and sending them out sometime later this week or early next week depending on logistics and health. Plenty of time for the package to arrive before the holidays!
